The Fireye 45UV5 models are exclusively compatible with the Flame-Monitor™, BurnerLogix™, D-Series, FlameWorx, MicroM, and certain P-Series Fireye control units. They are designed to provide flame safety and monitoring for supervised manual, semi-automatic, and fully automatic single-burner boilers, process ovens, and heaters.

These 45UV5 scanners employ a UV-eye detector. This detector consists of a sealed, gas-filled tube sensitive to UV radiation, containing two electrodes connected to an AC voltage source. When UV radiation with sufficient energy strikes the electrodes, it causes electrons to be emitted, making the gas between the electrodes conductive. This results in an electric current flowing from one electrode to the other. The current begins and ceases suddenly, a phenomenon known as an “avalanche.”
